— Two-year olds and an adult

This parent participation “grown up and me” program, is relatively new to Circle of Friends. We are thrilled that it has become a highly successful addition to our program.

This program was designed to offer growth opportunities to the little ones such as socialization, gross motor development, story time, finger plays, art, snack and choosing time. It is also provides support and social time for the grown-ups.

Teacher: Miss Erin

  • Miss Erin is excited to return to the roll as the Two-Tsy pop teacher after the class was canceled due to the pandemic. Her educational background along with former work experience will be a benefit to the grown-ups as well as those little two year-olds.
Two-tsy Pops

  Three-year-old programs: Gumdrops & Gummi Bears classes

  • Class ratio is 1 adult and 8 children per classroom.
  • Curriculum is designed to involve movement and music as a means of introducing and exposing the little ones to an introduction of uppercase letter recognition and sounds, numbers, colors, shapes and basic signing.
  • Fine motor development involves cutting, coloring and early writing skills.
  • Socialization is learning to interact with others, being kind and considerate and learning to be comfortable speaking to others in a small group setting.
  • Creative opportunities through art and play.

Teachers: Miss Lindsay and Miss Meagan

  • Miss Lindsay (3-day mornings) 7 years with Circle of Friends. Lindsay is returning for her 7th year as a three's teacher. Her degree in social work, her compassionate heart and her deep faith are what she brings to our school. She enjoys watching each little one grow and develop throughout the school year.

  • Miss Meagan (2-day mornings) 1 year with Circle of Friends. Meagan is new to our three's program. She brings experience as an elementary school teacher and from working in a Presbyterian church as an assistant director, coordinating events and volunteers. All three of her children have been part of our Circle of Friends family.

Teachers: Miss Anna, Miss Carrie and Miss Katie

  • Miss Anna (2-day afternoons)  – first year with Circle of Friends
    She joins us as a a seasoned preschool teacher. Her years of experience along with her Brazilian background enable her to contribute some interesting insights from this culture. We are thrilled to have her join our staff..

  • Miss Carrie (2-day & 3-day mornings)  – 16 years with Circle of Friends
    Her team and students greatly benefit from her years of experience. She has an infectious laugh that can be heard throughout the day as she interacts with her three-year-olds.

  • Miss Katie (3-day afternoons)  – 1 years with Circle of Friends
    Katie is excited to be in the classroom and looks forward to building those special relationships with her little friends. Her background in psychology should offer guidance and insight while helping the little ones grow and evolve.

Pre-Kindergarten

  Four-year-old programs: Gumballs & Lollipops classes

  • Class ratio is 1 adult and 10 children per classroom.
  • Curriculum introduces and exposes the children to uppercase and lowercase letter recognition, sounds, numbers and counting, colors and shapes. Name recognition and writing. By mid-year start to combine letters and sounds to begin forming words. Numbers and counting leading to simple math.
  • Fine motor development involves cutting, coloring and early writing and some math skills. D’Nealian penmanship writing lessons.
  • Socialization is learning to interact with kindness and consideration of others, follow direction and being comfortable speaking and sharing with others in a small group setting.
  • Introduction to simple signing as well as numbers, letters and colors.
  • Creativity through both art and free play.
  • Computer time.
  • Wednesday science program.
  • Field Trips.

Teachers: Miss Laura and Miss Tricia

  • Miss Tricia (3-day morning classes)  – 16 years with Circle of Friends
    She has a background in marketing and design, but prefers to be surrounded by her Gumballs. Tricia has an infectious laugh and cherishes each little personality God places in her care.

  • Miss Laura (Afternoon classes)  – 10 years with Circle of Friends
    Laura's experience in parks and recreation brings a high level of energy and creativity to the classroom. She is currently completing an additional degree in Arts & Educational Studies. Laura heads up our Facebook site and was the driving force behind our highly successful Virtual Academy that was in place during the pandemic.

Teachers: Miss Angie

  • Miss Angie (3-day mornings & afternoons)  – 11 years with Circle of Friends
    She has a contagious laugh and can’t wait to eagerly great each of her little friends as they arrive. Her high level of enthusiasm and patience is a gift to her students.

  • Miss Meggan (2-day+ mornings)  – 1 year with Circle of Friends
    Meggan's family has been a part of our program for the past few years. Meggan is excited to join our Pre-K early learning staff. Her elementary ed. background, with an emphasis on math, will bring an additional prospective to our program.

  • Miss Sarah (2-day+ afternoons)  – 1 year with Circle of Friends
    Sarah brings teaching experiences from preschool through elementary school. During her time as an at home mom, Sarah recently taught online English as a second language classes to students in China.

Teacher: Miss Monica

  • Miss Monica (4-day morning and afternoon)  – 11 years with Circle of Friends
    She has a background as a Christian educator and shares her various experiences having worked in all aspects of children's ministries. She has a soft spoken demeanor and a wonderful sense of humor.

Science Program Science

Every Wednesday the four and five-year-old pre-k classes are engaged in our special program.

Miss Erin involves the children in a hands on learning environment centered around various themes. This program incorporates the plant and animal life, math, seasonal changes, as well as hands on experimentation.

Debbie Johnson, Office Assistant

  • Miss Debbie is our glue and go-to person. We appreciate her 25 years of dedication and cheerful disposition. Her background is in elementary education and home economics. “Go Cougs!”
Miss Sharon

Sharon Wallenborn, Director

  • Miss Sharon has a background in early childhood education. She spent eleven years in the classroom and the last 27 years as the director of Circle of Friends.
