Preschool

Two-tsy Pop Class
— Two-year olds and an Adult

A newer program is a parent participation “grown-up and me” class for children turning two by August 31. Session options are Mondays or Thursdays from 9:15 to 11:15.

Class time will entail social development time, gross motor play, some structured story, finger plays and art, bathroom & snack, and choosing time.

Miss Laura photoMiss Laura directs this sweet little class. This will be her fourth year with us and her second year with the Two-tsy Pop program. She is very excited to have put her creative efforts to works designing and overseeing this special class.


  Three-year-old programs: Gumdrops & Gummi Bears classes

  • Class ratio is 1 adult and 8 children per classroom.
  • Curriculum is designed to involve movement and music as a means of introducing and exposing the little ones to an introduction of uppercase letter recognition and sounds, numbers, colors, shapes and basic signing.
  • Fine motor development involves cutting, coloring and early writing skills.
  • Socialization is learning to interact with others, being kind and considerate and learning to be comfortable speaking to others in a small group setting.
  • Creative opportunities through art and play.
Gumdroops

Gumdrops
— Young threes; turning three during March through August

Teachers: Miss Deana, Miss Carrie, Miss Jana and Miss Lindsay

  • Miss Deana (three-day afternoons) is rejoining to the Gumdrop team after a couple of years with the older three’s. When This will be Deana’s sixth year working with our three-year-olds. Working with the little ones is truly her heart’s desire and passion.

  • Miss Tara is adding the morning session to her schedule by joining 2-day Gumdrop team, as well as continuing in the afternoons with the older threes Gummi Bear program. She is excited to add the young threes to her schedule this year. This will be her fifth year with us.

  • Miss Lindsay (two-day afternoons) loves working with children and enjoys supporting their development and growth.  She is patient and tender hearted and enjoys sharing her love of art and photography with children. This will be her fourth year as part of the Gumdrop team.

  • Miss Angie (three-day mornings) returned to Circle of Friends after taking time off to raise her three boys. She brings a high level of energy and enthusiasm to her classroom. We are happy to have her back for her seventh year with Circle of Friends.

Gummi Bears

Gummi Bears
— Older threes; turning four in September through February

Teachers: Miss Beth, Miss Tara, Miss LeeAnn and Miss Kristine

  • Miss Beth (two-day mornings) has been a staff member for 13 years. Her background in elementary education enhances her creativity and love of science.  Beth also teaches our special science program offered on Wednesdays.

  • Miss Tara (two-day afternoons) is now into her fourth year as a member of the Gummi Bear team. She brings years of experience of working with children.  We are excited to see her implement her knowledge utilizing her degree in recreation.

  • Miss Carrie (two-day mornings) brings twelve years of experience to this classroom. Her team and students greatly benefit from her years of experience. She has an infectious laugh that can be heard throughout the day as she interacts with her three-year-olds.

  • Miss Kristine (three-day afternoons) is in her second year with our program. Her years of experience as a special education teacher brings additional insight and wisdom to our school.

Pre-Kindergarten

  Four-year-old programs: Gumballs & Lollipops classes

  • Class ratio is 1 adult and 10 children per classroom.
  • Curriculum introduces and exposes the children to uppercase and lowercase letter recognition, sounds, numbers and counting, colors and shapes. Name recognition and writing. By mid-year start to combine letters and sounds to begin forming words. Numbers and counting leading to simple math.
  • Fine motor development involves cutting, coloring and early writing and some math skills. D’Nealian penmanship writing lessons.
  • Socialization is learning to interact with kindness and consideration of others, follow direction and being comfortable speaking and sharing with others in a small group setting.
  • Introduction to simple signing as well as numbers, letters and colors.
  • Creativity through both art and free play.
  • Computer time.
  • Wednesday science program.
  • Field Trips.
Gumballs

Gumballs
— Young Fours turning four during May through August

Teachers: Miss Audri, Miss Tricia and Miss Debbie

  • Miss Audri (two-day morning/afternoons and Wednesday afternoon plus day) is enjoying her 7th year as part of the Gumball team. Her engineering background bringsa new level of creativity and organization to our staff. She enjoys researching new ideas and loves sharing her knowledge in American Sign Language with her little friends.
     
  • Miss Tricia (three-day mornings) has been a member of the Gumball team for 12 years. She has a background in marketing and design, but prefers to be surrounded by her Gumballs. Tricia has an infectious laugh and cherishes each little personality God places in her care.

  • Miss Debbie (three-day afternoons) is soft-spoken and gentle. Her prior classroom involvement has helped prepared her for her eighth year as part of this Gumball adventure. She is eager to provide each child with a truly positive and fruitful early childhood experience.

Lollipops

Lollipops
— Middle to older fours; turning four during January through April

Teachers: Miss Michell, Miss Laura and Miss Monica

  • Miss Michell (two-day mornings and Wednesday + day) has been a part of our team for the past 22 years. Her year of experience, as well as her eagerness to acquire new and creative teaching ideas only enhances her classroom environment.

  • Miss Laura (two-day afternoons) is returning to Circle of Friends after a few years away. We are excited to have her high level of enthusiasm and creativity back in the building. This will be Laura’s 5th year in the classroom. She also part of the new Two-tsy Pop two’s program.

  • Miss Monica (three-day morning and afternoons) has a background as a Christian educator and shares her various experiences having worked in all aspects of children's ministries. This is her seventh year with the Lollipop class. She has a soft spoken demeanor and a wonderful sense of humor.

Jellybeans
— Older fours and five-year olds, turning five by December 31st

Teacher: Miss MikiMiss Miki and a birthday girl

  • Miss Miki has been teaching at Circle of Friends for the past 17 years. She is very creative and loves taking her students on adventures visiting various countries throughout the school year. Her patience and compassionate heart evolved through years of working with special needs children.

Science TreeScience Program

Every Wednesday the four and five-year-old pre-k classes are engaged in our special program. Miss Beth involves the children in a hands on learning environment centered around various themes. This program incorporates the plant and animal life, math, seasonal changes, as well as hands on experimentation.

Debbie Johnson, Office Assistant

  • Miss Debbie is our glue and go-to person. We appreciate her 21 years of dedication and cheerful disposition. Her background is in elementary education and home economics. “Go Cougs!”
Miss Sharon

Sharon Wallenborn, Director

  • Miss Sharon has a background in early childhood education. She spent eleven years in the classroom and the last 24 years as the director of Circle of Friends.
